7 simple ways to switch on your sixth sense
If you have ever had a feeling that something might happen and it did, or had a dream that came true, or thought something at exactly the same time someone else did, then you are using your sixth sense without even realising it. Your sixth sense can help you in all aspects of your life – your relationships, your career, your family – but most of all it can help you realise your full potential and become the happy, successful person you are destined to be.
In this blog I am going to share seven easy ways to switch on your sixth sense.
But, before we begin, what is your sixth sense?
Your sixth sense is the world inside your head – the world of intuition or psychic power. It is a super sense, the cumulative power of all your other senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell and hearing and an amazing source of creative power, understanding and insight. As we all born with intuition, we can all use it to find meaning in our lives and realise our full potential. Trouble is most of us aren’t aware of our intuition and don’t know how to use it. It is a forgotten art that needs to be rediscovered and developed and the simple exercises below will get you started.
1. Time out
Every day treat yourself to a few moments of complete silence. We live in such a busy and noisy world today, and have so many thoughts swirling around in our head, sometimes we forget the importance of quiet and stillness. Try clearing your mind by paying attention to your breathing. Notice any thoughts you have and then let them go. Be open to any new ideas or solutions that come to you. When you are silent and can really tune into your sixth sense it connects you to a higher awareness, typically through your emotions.
2. Listen to your gut
Sometimes for no good reason you can think of things just don’t feel right. Don’t ignore that gut feeling pay attention to it. It is your sixth sense trying to guide you. Learn to trust it more and don’t discount it as illogical. Trusting your gut feeling about people and situations each day can feel risky but the more you trust it the stronger it will get.
Start to notice not just the thoughts and feelings you have inside you but also the hints and clues all around you. The universe talks to your heart but it also talks to us in our daily lives by sending us signs. For example, do you often hear the same song? Do certain numbers keep appearing? Did you just happen to bump into someone?
4. Take notice
Sometimes your sixth sense may manifest as a lightbulb moment or flash of brilliant inspiration or intuition that seems to come out of nowhere. Take notice. The more you notice and celebrate lightbulb moments the more you are likely to have. One of the most powerful ways for your sixth sense to speak to you is through so called ‘coincidences.’ Whenever they happen take notice.
5. Take a guess
This is a fun way to try and kick start your intuition. When your phone rings before you pick it up see if you can guess who is calling. Do the same thing when you hear a beep and a text has come through, or before you open your email see if you can guess how many messages are waiting there for you. At first you will get things wrong but if you keep practising in time you will surprise yourself and find that you are more often right than wrong.
6. Listen to your dreams and daydreams
Your sixth sense does not sleep when you do and your dreams can provide you with creative solutions. Before you go to bed at night think about any issues or questions you want an answer to and see what your dreaming mind comes up with. It might be a good idea to keep a pen and paper close by your bed so that when you wake up and have great ideas you can write them down immediately and won’t forget them.
During the day use your imagination as much as you can. Ask yourself questions and imagine what the answer or solution is. Stare out of the window and day dream. It doesn’t matter if the answer or solution doesn’t make sense at first just keep asking yourself questions and imagine you already know the answer.
7. Keep a diary
Keeping a diary of your thoughts and feelings is a brilliant way to kick start your sixth sense. When you write down or type what you think or feel you will also tap into thoughts and feelings that you are not consciously aware of.
Use it or lose it
Developing your sixth sense is like learning anything you. If you practise lots you will improve. And the more you practise the better you will get. It really is a case of use it or lose it when it comes to connecting with your super sense.
